IFC Against AIDS has developed some tools from the field of experiences and practices in HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention, and care to guide companies through every step in the process of designing and implementing a program for their workforce. By extending HIV/AIDS programs to their communities, companies can also play an important role in fighting HIV/AIDS along with "traditional" actors such as public health officials and NGOs.
The process can be ensured through a multi step approach, which is outlined in the following table.
Acknowledge the issue
Assess Program Conditions
Adopt an AIDS Policy
Set Up a Program
Adopt a Collaborative Approach
Monitor and Evaluate Results
Effectiveness may be measured in terms of both quantitative and qualitative indicators, assuming that good baseline data exists or has been collected at the start of the program to enable comparison. IFC Against AIDS has developed a Practical Guide to Monitoring and Evaluating Corporate HIV/AIDS Programs that is intended to support the key activities/components of our program roadmap by monitoring progress and evaluating the impact of the program. The M&E guide is a guideline for workplace program implementers on how to develop a strategy for monitoring program activities and measuring the effects. It provide tools that can be used in both monitoring and evaluating the activities or interventions. Intended for use by program implementers, trainers, coordinators and/or service providers giving implementation assistance to companies, this guide is currently being tested out with clients on a pilot basis and will soon be in use on a much wider scale.
