Vision: The argument of the IFC Against AIDS program for clients to engage on HIV/AIDS resides in the prospect of enhancing their reputation and contributing to an important challenge for
the chinese society.
According to the American Chamber of Commerce in China, any company moving to establish HIV/AIDS workplace programs at this time (not only foreign investors) would be recognized as an early mover and quality HIV-related programming would likely be praised as a model for best practices in China.
Implementation: IFC Against AIDS has been paying close attention to the epidemic in China and the possibility for the Corporation to leverage its reach to private clients in the country, in order to encourage a mobilization among this group, relaying the efforts of the Chinese government to face HIV/AIDS in the country. As a first step towards this objective, IFC has issued a
briefing book on HIV/AIDS in China targeted at the private sector. This briefing book is being distributed to all IFC clients in the country. Here are the electronic versions of the briefing book in
Mandarin and
English.
In addition, IFC Against AIDS has entered into the partnership convened by the World Economic Forum’s Global Health Initiative through the China Health Alliance, which joins Chinese health authorities, ILO, UNAIDS, and private enterprises to provide resources to companies that will get engaged on HIV/AIDS and TB.
