IFC's investments in the beverage sector include projects for the production of fruit-based beverages, ready-to-drink cups, and bottled water. A significant component of the processed food industry, bottled beverages represent a growing market in most of IFC’s investment countries. The sector is expected to expand further in the foreseeable future.
As of March 31, 2008, IFC's portfolio in the beverages subsector was $266 million or 10% of IFC's total agribusiness portfolio.
