Ghana Oil Palm Development Company

In 2007, IFC invested $12.5 million to help finance the expansion of Ghana Oil Palm Development Company, a leading oil palm plantation and processing company. The company will use the funds to plant oil palm trees on its plantations and on newly acquired land; expansion and upgrading of its infrastructure; meeting additional working capital needs; and refinancing existing medium-term financing with a long-term loan.

By helping the company expand and increase production, the project is also expected to also boost business at GOPDC’s suppliers. The planting program will also create additional employment for the community as more local farmers produce raw material for the program.
