PEP Africa

Established in 2005, IFC PEP Africa works in partnership with multilateral agencies, governments, and the private sector to deliver programs and advisory services that improve the investment climate, mobilize private sector investment, and enhance the competitiveness of private enterprises in Africa.

The goal is to make it easier, and more transparent, for businesses to do business in Africa.

Since 2005, IFC PEP Africa and its partners have provided more than $171 million in program support towards advisory services that promote private sector development in Africa.

IFC PEP Africa currently manages more than 85 programs in 24 countries across sub-Saharan Africa, with an increasing focus on the poorest countries and those affected by conflict.

The bulk of these programs are delivered at country level, with a few regional initiatives, which are managed out of the regional hub in Johannesburg, South Africa

Across Africa, IFC PEP Africa advisory services programs continue to make a difference, helping improve the climate for private investment, working with governments to create opportunities for private sector participation in the delivery and management of social infrastructure, and providing direct support to small and medium enterprises through various tools.

The success of PEP's programs would be impossible without the generous financial and technical support of IFC's donors and partners.
