To accomplish the project's objectives, it will work with the following partners and target audiences:
1. Joint stock companies - training managers and board members of Azerbaijani companies and banks registered as joint stock companies on corporate governance best practices. The training will be provided in the form of seminars, consultations and workshops. In addition, the project will select a group of pilot companies based on their commitment to reform, likelihood for success and other criteria. These companies will receive:
- An assessment of their corporate governance practices;
- Consultations on improving corporate governance, including structures and relationships between boards, management and shareholders;
- Advice on preparing transparent and meaningful financial reports.
2.
Government authorities - improving the legislative framework related to corporate governance. This work will be carried out in the following manner:
- Providing feedback on the effectiveness of the regulatory environment;
- Assisting in creating a favorable legislative environment for joint stock companies, including banks;
- Facilitating a public-private sector dialogue on regulatory and legislative issues related to corporate governance.
3.
Educational institutions - training the next generation of business professionals. To achieve this, the project will:
- Assist institutions in developing corporate governance programs;
- Train instructors on corporate governance best practices and provide them with relevant course material;
- Develop case studies based on actual Azerbaijani corporate governance issues and experience gained through project work with client companies.
4.
General public - educating the general public about the importance of corporate governance and its role in private sector development. As a part of the public awareness campaign the project will:
- Hold round table discussions with journalists and conduct press conferences;
- Publish and disseminate a periodic bulletin;
- Create and maintain a project website that will contain information on corporate governance and useful links;
- Deliver training events and seminars for journalists and partner organizations.
